Office to PDF
You wrote two pages. They received three.
Different fonts, a different version, a different page size — and the layout you spent an hour on rearranges itself on arrival.
Convert a documentWord, Excel or PowerPoint
A Word file describes intent: this is a heading, this paragraph follows it. The reader's machine decides what that looks like. A PDF describes result: this glyph, this position, this size. Which is why it travels.
When it matters
Anything being signed
A contract that reflows is a contract where page three says something different to each party.
Anything being printed
Print layout is where reflow does its worst work, and nobody checks until the paper comes out.
Anything going to a system
Upload portals, tender submissions and claim forms accept PDF and reject everything else, because they have the same problem you do.
What converts
- Converts PDF to Word and to Excel, and Word, Excel or PowerPoint back to PDF
The part that needs saying
This conversion runs on a server, not in your browser — rendering a Word document faithfully is not something a web page can do alone. The file is sent, converted and the result is held for sixty minutes before it is deleted.
Both of these
- Keep your converted file afterwards — a server-side result is held for 60 minutes and then deleted
- Let you download the result without a subscription — running the tool is open to everyone, the download is not
